John "Jack" Zesiger

"Jack was known for his kind heart, strong work ethics and sense of humor."

John "Jack" Zesiger, 76, U.S. Army Veteran, passed away in the home he built in 1978 in Battle Ground, WA. He was born in Weiser, ID and moved to Vancouver as a young child, graduating from Vancouver High School in 1953.

He worked as a commercial electrician and made many professional contributions in the Portland/Vancouver area. Jack was proud to have worked on such projects as the Vancouver Mall, First Independent Banks, the I-205 Bridge, Lloyd Center, and Emanuel Hospital.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union for over 50 years and the Dollar's Corner Moose Lodge. 

Jack enjoyed the outdoors, his work, playing poker and spending time with his "little Pumpkin", Amanda. She kept him smiling, made him proud and was the topic of most of his conversations.

Jack is survived by his son, John L. Zesiger and granddaughter, Amanda J. Zesiger, both of Battle Ground; grandson, Tyler Bird of Vancouver; sister, Shirley Morris of Washougal, WA; aunt, Cleo Odoms of Post Falls, ID; a nephew and many cousins and close friends.

His parents, Parley and Velma Zesiger of Vancouver, preceded him in death.

A celebration of his life will take place at the Dollar's Corner Moose Lodge on Sat., Sept. 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a potluck lunch to follow.

John was initiated into the IBEW October 1961 and retired November 1997.
